Meet Pawel, the Hazmat Team Leader within Aurora Environmental’s Occupational Hygiene and Safety division. With over 15 years of experience in the field, his career journey has taken him from the UK to the eastern states of Australia and now to Western Australia. This diverse experience has equipped him to handle unique challenges in each location, deepening his commitment to workplace safety.
“My passion for Hazmat and Occupational Hygiene started with the diversity of the work and the chance to connect with some incredible individuals along the way,” said Pawel. His journey ultimately led him to Aurora Environmental, where he found a team that shares his vision for making a tangible difference in Hazmat services. “I’m genuinely excited to be part of a dynamic and evolving field, contributing to a safer future for all.”
One of the career highlights Pawel is most proud of is his work across various industries, from large-scale hazmat assessments to smaller hygiene projects. “Each project has helped me grow as a professional and reinforced my dedication to this field,” he notes. His enthusiasm for continuous learning keeps him motivated, especially as the industry evolves with new innovations.
For Pawel, one of the most rewarding aspects of his role is the opportunity to mentor and develop junior staff. “Watching them grow into skilled consultants and seeing how their development improves the service we provide to clients is incredibly fulfilling.”
Outside of work, Pawel is an avid traveller, having visited nearly 70 countries. This love for travel has broadened his perspective and appreciation for different cultures, an experience he values both personally and professionally.
Pawel encourages those interested in a career in Hazmat services to jump in with an open mind. “You never know where this path will take you. Embrace the learning opportunities and don’t hesitate to seek guidance from experienced professionals.”
If he could solve one significant issue in the field, Pawel would work to remove the landfill levy for asbestos waste in Western Australia. “Reducing removal fees would encourage safer disposal practices, particularly for residential projects and small businesses.”
In balancing work and personal life, Pawel finds joy in outdoor activities, spending time with family and friends, and exploring new cultures.
