Midland Redevelopment Project

Project: Midland Redevelopment Project, former WA Government Railway Workshops
Client: Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority
Service: Lead Environmental Consultant

The Midland Redevelopment Project is a State Government initiative that commenced in 2000 to redevelop the former WA Government Railway workshops.

The project has involved the assessment and remediation of land contaminated as a result of approximately 90 years of heavy industrial use to allow it to be utilised for a range of purposes, including residential, commercial, hospital & allied industries and education.

A broad range of contaminants required remediation to allow redevelopment to proceed. The full range of contaminated sites activities were required, including site investigations, remediation (including supervision and validation reporting), preparation of tender specifications, assisting with selection of tenderers, transport modelling, risk assessment, preparation of subsurface management plans to manage residual contamination and liaison with the auditor and the MRA project team.
