Service Station Site Assessments

Aurora Environmental specialises in service station site assessments. Approvals and environmental management for new service stations as well as the assessment of contamination at existing service stations.

Aurora Environmental has been involved with the development of the new BP Forrest Highway Service Centres, new BP Naval Base service station, refurbishment of BP’s ‘The Lakes’ service station and with a new 7-Eleven service station and convenience store. Aurora has undertaken this work assisting construction contractors, site owners and prospective purchasers.

Our consultants have experience with a range of risk-based site assessments relating to service station construction, operation and decommissioning, including:

  • Environmental impact assessments and approvals for construction, including preparation of environmental management plans and urban water management plans.
  • Vegetation clearing permits.
  • Acid sulphate soils assessment and management as part of construction works.
  • Provision of baseline data to confirm the land is not polluted prior to establishing new service stations as part of lease agreements.
  • Investigation of soil and groundwater impacts resulting from site operations.
  • Investigation of historical impacts, relating to potential soil, soil vapour and groundwater impacts.
  • Remediation and ongoing site management and monitoring.
  • Risk assessments and strategic advice including reclassification of affected land titles under the Contaminated Sites Act 2003.
  • Hazardous materials building audits prior to demolition or refurbishment of existing buildings and removal of asbestos containing materials.
  • Provision of strategic advice regarding redevelopment of the land for more sensitive uses such as residential use.
  • Community, regulatory and stakeholder consultation.
